Reissue of this 1990 album by the British guitarist best known as 1/3rd of The Police. Charming Snakes features several well-known and respected musicians: Brian Auger, David Hentschel, (keyboards, organ); Sting, Doug Lunn (bass, guitar); Chad Wackerman (drums); Ed Mann (percussion); Bill Evans (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone); Darryl Jones (soprano saxophone); Mark Isham (trumpet); Herbie Hancock (piano, keyboards). This album is a whole new side of Andy Summers post The Police. Previous albums were regarded as a revelation in music however Charming Snakes out-does them all. Going from a bombastic fusion of jazz and rock to a finely tuned yet organized chaos of rhythmic metallic sounds and continuing with more relaxed reggae and ballad tracks. Andy Summers allows enough space for his co-musicians to shine.
