Preorder Upcoming Releases
LISTINGLegendary artist, Raincoats co-founder, songwriter, filmmaker, and feminist icon Gina Birch has announced her eagerly awaited second solo album, Trouble, arriving via Third Man Records on Friday, July 11. Pre-orders are available now. Trouble is heralded by today’s premiere of the album’s blistering centerpiece, “Causing Trouble Again,” available for streaming now. An official music video – directed by famed photographer/filmmaker Dean Chalkley and featuring an all-star collective of fellow female artists including Birch’s longtime friend and co-founder of The Raincoats, Ana da Silva, Neo Naturists co-founder Christine Binnie, singer-songwriter Amy Rigby, X-Ray Spex and Essential Logic co-founder Lora Logic, painter Daisy Parris, artist Georgina Starr, writer Jill Westwood, multi-disciplinary artist and activist Bobby Baker, award-winning costume designer Annie Symons, veteran photographer and Raincoats collaborator Shirley O’Loughlin, and many more – is streaming now on YouTube. “For the ‘Causing Trouble Again’ video, after hearing Bob Dylan sing about a white ladder all covered with water, I became obsessed with white ladders,” Gina Birch says. “ I decided to use five white ladders, three with seven rungs…I realized later that this references Jacob’s Ladder and a connection from Earth to heaven, but I think I was thinking of ladders as a symbol of getting on, getting up. I wanted to have a choreographed movement with four of us with these ladders. How do we move with ladders? Do we move together, do we fight, do we dance? “I also wanted to reference the wind scene from the film, The Colour of Pomegranates, and to include as many artist women from the Women in Revolt exhibition as I could. I wanted them to be troublesome, or just to shout ‘Causing trouble!’ I ended up inviting all the artist musician women I knew who could make the shoot, and it was a fantastic meeting of great women, many of whom had never met each other before.” “Causing Trouble Again” was inspired by 2024’s Women in Revolt, an exhibition of feminist art and activism at Tate Britain which included one of Birch’s most recognized art pieces, 1977’s 3 Minute Scream, a landmark short film in which she stares down the camera and, as the title suggests, screams for the duration of a Super 8 cartridge. Birch created the epic six-minute track by inviting several female artists, including experimental music pioneer Cosey Fanni Tutti and writer/painter Caroline Coon, to record themselves saying the names of women who have inspired them – women who have indeed “caused trouble.”

It was winter in Manhattan. The streets were frozen and still the band rode bicycles to the Power Station on 53rd and back to Brooklyn for three weeks. Three weeks that would mark the birth of Double Infinity - the album that constitutes a grand departure for Big Thief. An ultramodern community of musicians gathered in the warm wooden room where Bruce once stood. They all tracked together – simultaneously – improvising arrangements and making collective discoveries.
Laraaji created drones with zither and an iPad and sang intuitive vocal melodies. Joshua Crumbly played bass; Mikey Buishas made live tape loops and played keys; Mikel Patrick Avery, Jon Nellen, and Caleb Michel played percussion; Adam Brisbin played guitar; and Hannah Cohen, Alena Spanger and June McDoom sang background vocals. Along with core members Adrianne, Buck, and James, the group played for nine hours a day. Double Infinity is the archive of this play. It could only have been produced, engineered, and mixed by longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.
“Double Infinity,” reaches into the idea of inner and outer worlds, and the body as the bridge. It speaks to the purgatory created by the human brain, always looking to the past or future, between the things we’ve lost and the things we want, between desire and regret. “Beauty speak to me, let me know you, let me see myself inside your mystery, through the crystal cage of aging.” It calls for true beauty to speak, not fabricated, conditioned ideas of beauty. At the bridge between “what is forming” and “what is fading”, between “losing and of gaining”, “mourning and celebrating”, perhaps there is solace in “the eye behind the essence, still, unmovable”, that which is “unchanging”, outside of time. Is it love?

Renee Rapp's sophomore studio album "BITE ME" encourages listeners to embrace every facet of their personality, the chaotic and the confident, and to be authentically, unapologetically themselves. It's a raw, unfiltered, and vulnerable album about self-acceptance in its truest form, and like Rapp herself, creates a community for unfiltered self-expression.

On the heels of their eighth Opry performance and Ryman Auditorium debut earlier this year, Akron, Ohio’s “Rustbelt Americana” torchbearers, The Shootouts, release their new album Switchback, on Transoceanic Records. Switchback is The Shootouts’ fourth LP, and the follow up to their acclaimed 2023 release Stampede, a #1 at Alt-Country and #4 on the Americana radio charts.
Recorded in Nashville, TN, The Shootouts brought in Grammy-winner Dan Knobler, following his production of Allison Russell’s AMA Album of the Year, Outside Child, to produce, mix and co-engineer Switchback. Already garnering 5-star reviews and a Rolling Stone feature, Country Music People magazine called Knobler’s craft on Switchback, “astonishingly good production” on a “spectacular album.”
Bandmates Emily Bates, Brian Poston, and frontman Ryan Humbert, whose distinctive lead vocals continue to draw comparisons to Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies, are joined on the tracks by some of Americana and country music’s most noteworthy players. Switchback opens with the lush fan-favorite “Trampoline,” followed by the high-energy rocker “The Other Side of My Life.” Lindsay Lou, Sam Bush, and Mickey Raphael lend their talents to a rootsy take on the ‘80’s post-punk classic “Only You,” originally by Yaz, the iconic UK duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke. Two country legends accompany Humbert on vocals, starting with Rodney Crowell on the country folk infused “Half A World Away”; and Vince Gill picking up the pace on an electrifying rendition of “I’ll Be Damned,” a song he penned and recorded in 1980. “Only Good at Goodbye” features a guest vocal by singer/songwriter Logan Ledger, with the renowned Russ Pahl on pedal steel.
Switchback finds The Shootouts hitting their mark, elevating their palette of traditional country, contemporary roots, rockabilly, and Western swing, while maintaining their blue-collar, hard-working ethic. Free tote bag and autographed print with Indie Store Exclusive vinyl purchase, while supplies last.
Lord Huron - the project of Los Angeles-based songwriter, musician and visual artist Ben Schneider, releases their
new album, The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, via Mercury Records, along with the new single, "Looking Back."
Known for creating "atmospheric music of exquisite craft" (Wall Street Journal), the band began teasing the album in early 2025 with the singles, "Who Laughs Last" and "Nothing I Need."
Lord Huron's fifth album was written and co-produced by Schneider. Alongside Schneider are band members Tom Renaud, Mark Barry and Miguel Briseno, and a host of collaborators, including actress Kristen Stewart and Blonde Redhead's Kazu Makino. The album title references the mysterious machine featured on the cover art. Schneider asks: "What if you could choose your fate like choosing a song on a jukebox? What if your finger slipped and you got the B-side instead? What if you misunderstood the meaning of the dang song to begin with?"
A bossa nova inspired follow up to 2024's global dance smash BREAD; butter is a fan-focused companion album and exploration of the band's softer side + the continued influence of the music of Brazil and its many iterations.
